Seven weeks and counting

As you can see, I stopped doing weekly updates after Week Four or so. It had pretty much just become more of the same. Overall, I have lost weight every week, and according to the scale, as of this morning, I have lost exactly twenty-five pounds since the beginning of the year.

Only once before (went we went 99% vegan for a few months) did I see results like this, but it was too easy to fall off the wagon. One little moment when convenience trumped everything else, and next thing you know it was fast food, candy bars, and soda. The current diet is a little bit inconvenient (as they all are) but it’s continuing to work and I can live with it. I’m not seeing the numbers I did the first three weeks on Diet #1 (Fuhrman’s Eat to Live diet) but then again I’m not starving and weak all the time, either. And many people (including my eloquent sister-in-law) pointed out that it wasn’t necessarily a good thing to be dropping so much so fast. So, now I’m down to 2-3 pounds a week, with some fluctuation.

Week of: Weight Delta Notes
1/1 236.5
1/8 227.5 -9.0
1/15 223.0 -4.5
1/22 221.0 -2.0 changed to Diet #2 next day
1/29 218.0 -3.0
2/5 220.0 +2.0
2/12 214.5 -5.5
2/19 213.0 -1.5

Average weight loss has been two pounds per week, taking into account the awful week that I went up two pounds. Since the last two winter storms, exercise has gotten a little sparse, but I can pick that back up again once the ice melts and stays melted.

I am generally feeling better, functioning better, and I suspect that if it weren’t for the other soap operas playing out in and around my life right now, I’d be a lot more active in a lot of ways. My next weight-loss goal is to get under 200 pounds. I haven’t seen that weight since I was first married, ten years ago. Creeping obesity wasn’t exactly sneaking up on me, as you can see.

I want to point out, before this little update ends, that there’s no way I could have done this without the Lord, and the primary means He uses to keep me going: my wife, whose health, I might add, is similarly improving at the moment, but details are not mine to share. Suffice to say, things are changing for the better here. To God be the glory, great things He hath done.

Well done. I really hope the weight stays off, that’s what can be a real struggle! As long as you’ve made lifestyle changes it will.

If you keep going like this, we won’t even recognise you next time we see you!

And thanks for calling me eloquent, I don’t think I’ve ever been called that before. :)
