Let’s try typing something. This is fairly pleasant. It will be hard to get used to not using Emacs keys, though. The LCD display seems slow from this angle, but this is most likely the angle I’d be using on the bus, so I guess this is all right.

I can read it just fine at six lines per screen; I think that that will work just fine. I wish I could get rid of the dictionary, the Spanish-English options, and the thesaurus, and use the extra memory for something else. Like maybe totally custom keyboard layouts. *smiles*
Boy, you can’t really do anything but type on here. That’s a good thing, really. Helps with concentration. Now, is it obvious how to search for something? Yep: there’s a “find” button. Simple enough. Spell check got hung up on “Emacs” but that was it. No big surprise there. It suggested “Macs.” As if.
This is really perfect for a normal person, and pretty near perfect for myself. Perfect would be the ability to remap Caps Lock and Control, and to do Emacs keybindings, as I said earlier.
You can search all the files on the system, apparently.
I see no way to determine how much space you have left. That’s a little annoying.
I can’t believe how light this thing is. I can keep it balanced on one leg and use my palms to steady it, and type at nearly full speed. Not too shabby. It feels light but rugged and inflexible. Just right. People complain about the dark green color, but to me that reminds me of two things: the eMate 300, and the original RedHat 5 xrdb entry for Emacs backgrounds.
I can cope with this. Oh, yes.
Now I just need to load text into it. And read enough of the manual to figure out if there’s any hope of getting memory status out of the thing.

As you said about my daughter, “Wow, someone’s fixated.”
It’s like training for the musketeers all your life and only in your thirties does someone actually give you a real sword.
In other news, I sure miss having my comments emailed to me.
So your Neo is a sword, is it? Once you’re finished with the Nano-thingy, what else is it going to be used for?
Yeah, us, too. If what I’ve just done doesn’t work for you, I’m going to have to check something else out. It could be with WP.
I can write blog posts on here and then just upload them when I get home. I can start writing all the books and short stories I ever wanted to write, now that I have the loads of time that the bus gives me. I can prepare sermons and Sunday and Wednesday night outlines on here. Suddenly I can do all sorts of things that I couldn’t do when I was at work (because I would be stealing time from work), nor when I was home (because that’s stealing time from Tracey and the kids). I can take notes at lectures. I can use it at work.
For what I do, this is what I always wanted the Model 100 to be. I just couldn’t get it to sync reliably, and now that serial ports are almost a thing of the past, I had to do something.
Yes, but the big question is, did you get a notification email? Seems a lot of people have been having that trouble over the life of WP 2.x.x. But so far all I find is silence to the newer questions about the problem.
No, I got no notification for any of these.
