Faith Alone

I preached Sunday morning’s sermon at GCBC. Probably the most straightforward and hardest-hitting gospel presentation I have ever made in my life… and at the end of it I had two kids come up and comment on how they thought for a while that I was yelling at them. I responded, as straight-faced as I could, “I was.” They both laughed and ran away.

Still, I have hopes that the Spirit will use the Word to bring dead people to life in Christ.

Your sermon was very edifying, Charlie. It was forthright, non-apologetic, no fluff and powerful. I had several people in mind that I wished were there to hear it. It was convicting for me to be reminded of the beauty, uniqueness and necessity of Christ and the wretchedness, filthiness and insufficiency of myself. I praise God for the sermon delivered through you.

PS Can I have a copy of the sermon? Do you want me to fill out a request slip on Wednesday?

Let’s say, if you don’t get a copy on Wednesday, remind me on Wednesday, and I’ll cook one up for you.

You are getting better and better with each sermon that you write. I enjoy listening to you and praise God for the time that you are putting into the preparation for the sermon. The straight forward approach is what I like to here. God Bless you as you prepare for your next sermon.
