Phil Johnson weighs in on the Francis Chan video, “Just Stop and Think,” that’s caused a whirlwind of discussion around the Godblogosphere. (I loved the photo with the frontpage newspaper headlines.)
Along the same lines, Paul Martin’s perspective is worth considering.
As is James White’s, despite being of a different opinion.
BTW, I wonder, has anyone tried to contact Pastor Chan about his video, to see whether he might like to say a few words? Just a thought. Update: Well, for what it’s worth, if anything, I just did.
Please keep in mind all these men I cite above are, among other things, also ministers and preachers of the gospel. It’s easy to think of them as “just another one of us geeks” or whatever, especially given their strong web presence and influence, but they should be accorded the due respect we accord to our elders — whether or not we happen to agree with them on the topic.
In any case, what I’ve personally learned is that Pastor Chan’s form of evangelism is still better than my form of non-evangelism (to borrow from Dwight L. Moody; and, yes, I realize Moody had his problems, that’s not the point).
