Terminal velocity

Adapted from a tagline I saw today: “The best way to accelerate a Windows system is at 32 feet per second per second.”

Did you mean 32? Or am I missing something?

Oops. Yes. I’ll change it. (How did I forget that?)

For the record, the original post said “22 feet per second per second” (my fault, I don’t know now if it was bad memory or bad fingers that prompted that, though).

    Hi Jon,

I think he means 22 feet per second per second (or 9.8 meters per second per second)?, which is the rate at which an object on earth accelerates when falling due to gravity (if I remember my physics correctly). In other words, he’s talking about throwing the computer off a building. ;-)

Edit: Oops! Sorry, I don’t remember my physics correctly! Thanks Jon. :-)

Yeah, according to Google Calculator, “9.8 meters = 32.152231 feet”.

Hm, maybe I was thinking of 22/7 = pi (approx.)? Anyway, I obviously need to brush up on elementary math and physics.

I had to look it up as well, although 22 looked funny, which caused me to look it up in the first place.

And then I had to spend a little time to figure out if it was something else besides 9.8 m/s that you were going for. All in all, far too much time wasted (mostly) thinking about all this. :)
